In my large distress I turn to your honor with the most obedient request that you intervene [put in a word] on my behalf, that of my husband and my son, with the Royal Mr. Mayor.

After my husband traveled [out of town] the 25 April 1900, and my son nourished me [in the meantime] with [my] 6 uneducated children, my husband came home on 23 December 1900 . My husband as well as [the rest of us] obtained an expulsion order from the city police administration, and we have to leave the Prussian national territory immediately [else we might receive] a large penalty of detention.

My husband and my son were already arrested yesterday, but they were provisionally released until Tuesday 29. of this month. We possess here a two-storied house on the Friedrichsmarkt with a value of approximately 2500 Dollars and this [would have to be] sold immediately, but we also cannot abandon it. Besides my older son I have also 6 small, uneducated children, and we cannot possibly travel now in the winter.

Oh G-d, is it really the case that my husband and my son will have to leave the national territory the 29 of this month? Then I do not know where to turn myself with 6 uneducated children, because I am only a weak woman.

I therefore turn in my distress to the graceful Mrs. Mayor with the most humble request to plead on my behalf to the Royal Mayor that our expulsion be postponed at least until spring.

Hochgeehrte Frau Landrath!

In meiner grossen Bedraengniss wende ich mich an Ew. Hochwohlgeboren

mit der ganz gehorsamen Bitte, beim Koenigl Herrn Landrath fuer mich

meinen Mann und meinen Sohn Fuersprachen einbringen zu wollen.

So wie mein Mann den 25 April 1900 verreist gewesen ist, und mein

Sohn hat mir mit 6 unerzogene Kinder ernaehrt, mein Mann ist am 23.

Dezember 1900 nach Hause gekommen.

Mein Mann sowohl als auch uns sind von der Stadtpolizei-Verwaltung

Ausweisungsverfuegung zugegangen und haben wir sofort bei grossen

Haftstrafe das preussische Staatsgebiet zu verlassen. Gestern wurde

mein Mann und mein Sohn bereits verhaftet aber vorlaeufig bis

Dienstag den 29. d. Mts. noch auf freien Fuss gesetzt.

Wir besitzen hier ein zweistoekiges Haus auf dem Friedrichsmarkt im

Werth von etwa 2500 Thaler und dieses is zu [??] sofort verkauft und

im Stich lassen koennen wir es auch nicht.

Ich habe ausser dem grossen Sohn noch 6 kleine unerzogene Kinder, und

koennen wir doch jetzt im Winter unmoeglich reisen.

Ach Gott, wenn der Fall wirklich sein soll, das mein Mann und Sohn

den 29. d. Mts. der Staatsgebiet verlassen muss? So weisse ich nicht

wo ich mit meinen 6 kleine Kinder hin soll denn ich bin ein

schwaechliche Frau.

Ich wende mich daher in meiner Bedraengniss an die gnaedige Frau

Landrath mit der unterthaenigsten Bitte, beim Koenigl Herrn Landrath

Fuersprache einbringen zu wollen, damit mir unserer Ausweisung

mindestens bis zum Fruehjahr gewartet wird.
